GB/T 43839 is the first recommended national standard for products used for pets. It specifies the safety technical requirements to help ensure a reasonable degree of safety for both humans and pets during normal use and foreseeable misuse.
The first recommended national standard for ensuring the safety of pet products, GBT 43839-2024 Technical Requirements for Safety of Companion Animal (Pet) Products has been officially released. It is set to be implemented on October 1 of this year.
This standard establishes a standardized quality and safety framework for a variety of pet products available on the Chinese market. It aims to minimize the potential safety hazards in pet products that could pose dangers to both humans and pets.
This standard covers a wide range of product categories (see table below), specifying requirements from physical and mechanical aspects to chemical, microbiological, electrical and toxicological specifications.
By addressing these key requirements, it promotes the health of pets and their owners, enhancing a safer and more reliable pet care experience.
