Algeria offers significant opportunities for international exporters across a wide range of sectors. However, companies planning to place products on the Algerian market need to understand and address the country’s applicable product regulations, technical requirements and conformity controls before shipment to ensure a smoother import process and help reduce the risk of avoidable delays.
Algeria’s regulatory framework includes Law No. 09-03 of 25 February 2009, relating to consumer protection and fraud prevention, and Executive Decree No. 05-467 of 10 December 2005, which establishes the conditions and procedures for conformity controls at the country’s borders.
Understanding the applicable requirements before shipment can help exporters and importers prepare the necessary documentation, identify potential compliance issues at an early stage and reduce the risk of avoidable delays or corrective actions upon arrival in Algeria.
In certain transactions, additional documentary requirements may apply. For example, where a letter of credit (L/C) or another trade-finance arrangement requires independent evidence of product conformity, a certificate of conformity (CoC) may support the documentation required by the importer, financial institution or other parties involved in the transaction.
How we support your exports
As a qualified certification and inspection body, we may issue the appropriate document of compliance, known as a Certificat de Contrôle de Qualité des Marchandises (CoC), to support the import and customs clearance process.
The CoC is issued in the exporting country and provides independent evidence that goods have been assessed against applicable Algerian regulatory, technical and quality requirements.
Depending on the product and applicable requirements, our services may include:
