Brazil Revises Compliance Date for Pacifier Conformity Identification Seals

SafeGuardSToys and Juvenile ProductsDecember 13, 2021

Brazil has issued a revision to push back its compliance date for pacifier suppliers to adapt the layout of the conformity identification seal. The new effective date will be December 31, 2022.

In July 2021, Brazil published Inmetro Ordinance No. 301 of July 12, 2021 (Portaria No. 301, de 12 de Julho de 2021) approving the consolidated conformity assessment requirements for pacifiers (‘the Ordinance’, SafeGuardS 108/21).

This Ordinance contains two important dates:

  • August 2021, the date on which it comes into force
  • December 31, 2021, for pacifier suppliers to adapt the layout of the Conformity Identification Seal (Annex II to the Ordinance)

In November 2021, Brazil’s Ministry of Economy/National Institute of Metrology, Quality and Technology (Ministério da Economia/Instituto Nacional de Metrologia, Qualidade e Tecnologia, Inmetro) published an amendment to revise the date of adaption of the Conformity Identification Seal from December 31, 2021 to December 31, 2022 (Annex II to the Ordinance).
