SGS Continues to Deliver the Highest Standards with Gafta Superintendent Approvals

Agri Trade HighlightsGrainsApril 26, 2021

We are proud to announce confirmation by the Grain and Feed Trade Association (Gafta) that SGS Geneva is now a Gafta Approved Superintendent, following the successful completion of a Gafta Standard Audit.

Demonstrating our technical expertise in supervision, sampling and check weighing for the Agri Commodities industry.

As confirmed members of the Gafta Approved Register of Superintendents, we have evidenced full compliance with Gafta's leading standard for supervision, sampling and check weighing. This industry-leading recognition shows that we conform to the very highest international standards and best practice in the agri commodities services we offer.

Paul Harrison, SGS Global Vice President for Agri Commodities said, "I'm delighted by this confirmation of our team's technical expertise in serving agricultural commodities to the highest internationally-approved standards. The approval provides yet more evidence of the quality of the inspection services we offer our customers."

What does Gafta Approved mean?

The certification allows us to provide services under the Gafta Contract Terms & Conditions and covers our management and operational procedures when inspecting agricultural commodities. Currently SGS has 44 individual country affiliates that are Gafta Approved Superintendents.

The Gafta methods and rules are kept up to date as part of an annual audit, making sure we continue to meet our customers' requirements.

Gafta announced on October 1, 2019, that ISO 9001 certification (or similar) would no longer be accepted to remain on their Approved Register of Superintendents. These new requirements came into effect from January 1, 2020, with a grace period until May 31, 2021, to allow existing members time to comply with the new requirements.

Our customers may rest assured that we continue to follow current best practice, with our Approved Superintendents Register logo allowing them to instantly identify our status.
