Thailand Establishes MRLs for Four Pesticides in Mangosteen, Longan and Mango

On October 22, 2018, Thai Ministry of Public Health Notification No.393 issued MRLs for carbosulfan, dithiocarbamates, imidacloprid and dinotefuran in mangosteen, longan and mango. The MRLs entered into force with immediate effect.
Revision of ASTM F2413-18 Standard Specification for Performance Requirements for Protective Footwear

ASTM F2413 covers minimum requirements for the performance of footwear to provide protection against a variety of workplace hazards that can potentially result in injury. In the 2018 version, test report and Certification of Conformance (COC) are required to be issued by a third-party laboratory for the safety hazard(s) applicable to the footwear or/and puncture resistant devices.
EU Published Regulation (EU) 2018/1513 for CMR Restrictions for Textile and Footwear Products

The European Commission (EC) has published Regulation (EU) 2018/1513 in the Official Journal of the European Union (EUOJ) amending REACH Annex XVII restricted substances list and restrict certain carcinogenic, mutagenic or toxic for reproduction (CMR) substances in clothing and related accessories, other textiles and footwear products.
Canada Establishes Maximum Residue Limit for Trifloxystrobin

MRLs for Trifloxystrobin, proposed by the Pest Control Products Act, from Health Canada’s Pest Management Regulatory Agency (PMRA) for foods imported to and sold in Canada have been adopted by the WTO. The MRLs entered into force on October 15, 2018.
Seychelles Proposes a Ban on Plastic Straws

The WTO has circulated a notification from the Seychelles announcing a draft regulation to prohibit plastic straws and requiring biodegradable forms of these products to conform to prescribed standards. The proposed date of entry into force is January 1, 2019.
India Establishes Glyphosate Residue in Imported Cereal Products

On October 12, 2018, the Food Safety and Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) published file no. 1-1771/FSSAI/Imports/2018 requiring the determination of Glyphosate residue in imported cereal products. The data collected by Regional Offices regarding the presence of Glyphosate shall be shared with FSSAI every 15 days.
Canada Places Blanket Ban on Asbestos

Canada has published two pieces of legislation to amend its Environmental Protection Act. The new law prohibiting asbestos-containing consumer products will become effective on December 30, 2018.
