We have signed an agreement with Northern Lights, the world’s first open-source CO₂ transport and storage infrastructure. Through this collaboration, we will provide independent sampling, testing and certification services across the CO₂ transport and storage value chain, from emitter sites to the receiving terminal. Drawing on our expertise in greenhouse gas verification, quality assurance and certification, we aim to help strengthen confidence in CO₂ quality throughout the CCS process.
Supporting a scaling CCS market
As carbon capture and storage projects continue to scale across Europe, maintaining the quality and integrity of captured CO₂ throughout transportation and storage becomes increasingly important. As Northern Lights helps establish a commercial CCS market in Europe, reliable and independent CO₂ quality verification supports safe, consistent and transparent transport and storage operations.
Through this collaboration, we are working with Northern Lights to strengthen CO₂ quality verification across the value chain through independent sampling, testing and certification, helping build confidence in CCS operations and low-carbon infrastructure.
Our services
Our services include:
- Sampling of liquid CO₂ at emitter sites
- Courier of samples to the laboratory
- Full testing of samples according to Northern Lights specifications in the laboratory
- Fast turnaround times for laboratory testing
- Sampling and on-site testing at the emitter’s facility and the burial site in Øygarden, Norway
- Reporting, chain-of-custody documentation and CO₂ Quality Certificates
We support emitter sites in Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands, as well as the Northern Lights receiving terminal in Øygarden, Norway.
Independent verification across the value chain
We act as an independent inspector, surveyor and testing laboratory, providing third-party assurance throughout the CO₂ transport and storage chain. This helps strengthen confidence in CO₂ quality verification at critical stages of the process.
As a provider of greenhouse gas verification services, we bring technical expertise, a global network of inspectors and laboratories, and extensive experience in CO₂ quality assurance to help independently verify the quality of CO₂ throughout the CCS value chain.
Through sampling, laboratory testing, reporting and certification, we help create a transparent and traceable verification process, supporting quality assurance from emitter sites through to permanent storage. By helping verify the quality and integrity of captured CO₂ destined for permanent storage, we support the deployment of CCS solutions that help industries reduce emissions and accelerate the transition to a lower-carbon future.
