Expanded Accredited Microbiological Testing Capabilities in France

Cosmetics & Personal Care News and RegulationsCosmetics and Personal Care News and SafeguardSJanuary 22, 2026

Manufacturers in the chemical and biological products, medical devices and bio-active product sectors – including pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, antiseptics and disinfectants – can now benefit from an expanded range of accredited microbiological analyses available at our Plouzané laboratory in France.

On November 21, 2025, the Plouzané facility was accredited by the French Committee for Accreditation (Cofrac) to NF EN ISO/IEC 17025:2017, confirming the laboratory's technical competence and the robustness of its quality management system. Valid until October 31, 2029, this accreditation (No. 1‑7397) reinforces our ability to support these sectors with internationally recognized, high‑quality testing services.

Accredited microbiological expertise

ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation is internationally recognized as the benchmark for laboratories demonstrating the ability to produce accurate, traceable and reliable results. For manufacturers, this accreditation delivers tangible benefits, including:

  • Reduced risk of regulatory non-compliance
  • More efficient regulatory audits and inspections
  • Mutual recognition of results, facilitating access to international markets
  • Enhanced product safety and quality assurance
  • Increased credibility with regulators, customers and other stakeholders

In response to increasingly stringent safety, performance and regulatory requirements for cosmetics, the Plouzané laboratory now provides accredited microbiological analyses, including:

  • Antimicrobial protection tests (Challenge Test – NF EN ISO 11930) – validating the effectiveness of preservative systems and supporting regulatory submissions
  • Microbiological cleanliness checks (ISO 17516) – ensuring formulas, ingredients and finished products meet strict microbiological criteria

The scope of accreditation also extends to key microbiological analyses for pharmaceutical and bio-active products, including:

  • Preservative efficacy testing (European Pharmacopoeia 5.1.3)
  • Microbiological cleanliness controls (PE 2.6.12)

Through accreditation, results are formally recognized, quality assurance is reinforced and technical support is provided for even the most complex formulations.

These services complement good manufacturing practice (GMP) analyses performed by our laboratory in Villeneuve‑la‑Garenne, creating a coherent, end‑to‑end quality chain for pharmaceutical and bio-active product testing.
