SGS is pleased to announce that our Harrisburg, PA laboratory now has a brand new vitamin laboratory, enabling us to offer full, integrated testing to the dietary supplement market.
We have invested heavily in instrumentation and staffing, converting a large section of our already successful Harrisburg facility to address the growing demands of the US supplement industry. The development of this lab drew on the expertise of SGS’s internationally renowned center of excellence in Berlin, Germany, which has specialized technologists and state-of-the-art equipment for vitamin analysis.
For over 20 years, SGS’s Chemical Solutions Laboratories have been focused solely on heavy metals, minerals and trace elemental testing, with a particular focus on the dietary supplement industry. This expanded capability allows us to build upon this previous success by offering the dietary supplement industry extended testing services.
Brian LaBine, General Manager of SGS’s Chemical Solutions Laboratories, states: "We've always been known in the supplement industry as the top tier testing facility for heavy metals, minerals and trace elements. And while this specialization served us well, it also limited our offering to the supplement industry. Now, with the dedicated instrumentation, lab space and experts, we're able to expand our offering without diminishing our core competencies."
This expanded capability bolsters our US food lab network’s continued support of the dietary supplement industry with a one-stop-shop testing model, including USP and accredited analyses of:
- Heavy metals
- Trace elements
- Amino acids
- Pesticide residues
- Solvent residues
- Label claims
With fast turnaround times for testing, the Harrisburg team can also arrange sample collection/delivery in strategic locations.
