SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of a 70 percent stake in SIGA Ingeniería y Consultoría S.A. (SIGA), a leading project management, technical inspection and engineering consulting company in Chile. Operating in both the public and private sectors, SIGA supports the development of construction projects, from the design stage to final certification, through highly qualified engineering and consulting professional services.

SIGA has a diverse portfolio of around 200 clients that undertake projects of various type, duration and scale. The company is active mainly in the energy, infrastructure, transport and mining sectors.

Founded in 1996 and privately owned, SIGA operates principally in Chile but also has activities in Peru and Colombia. With 1,100 employees, SIGA generated revenues in excess of CLP 31,000 million (CHF 43 million) in 2014.

“Our acquisition of this stake in SIGA will allow us to access the region’s growing infrastructure, technical inspection and construction supervision markets,” said Frankie Ng, CEO of SGS. “This acquisition, combined with the recently acquired companies ETSA in Colombia and ENGER in Brazil, significantly strengthens our position in the Latin American industrial economy.”
