SGS Acquires Western Geotechnics Group
SGS is pleased to announce the acquisition of Western Geotechnics Group, Welshpool, Western Australia.
Founded in 1987 and privately owned, Western Geotechnics offers a full range of services to the civil construction, mining and oil and gas industries including extensive materials testing, pavement design and materials investigations, research and development.
Western Geotechnics has four permanent laboratory locations in Welshpool - Perth, Kalgoorlie, Karratha and Port Hedland as well as mobile laboratory services operated by 85 highly skilled staff. It generates revenues in excess of AU$ 12 mio.
“This acquisition is in line with SGS’ Industrial Services strategy” said Chris Kirk, CEO of SGS, “and will further strengthen SGS’ presence in Australasia by complementing services already offered by the Minerals Geochemistry, Metallurgy and Environmental testing Groups.”
