Uganda’s pre-verification of conformity (PVoC) program ensures that export/import businesses operating in the country adhere to regulatory controls which are designed to keep products safe and fit for purpose. To strengthen consumer protection, the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has put in place an Import Inspection and Clearance Scheme. This scheme requires all imported products which are subject to the provisions of the UNBS Act 1983, to be inspected for conformity to the regulations, before they can be sold in the country.
