Safety Data Sheets Support

Ensure clear transmission of hazardous substance and mixtures information with SGS safety data sheet support services.

Safety data sheets (SDS) are a major requirement when dealing with dangerous substances and mixtures. Following the adoption of (EC) Regulation No 1907/2006 on the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals, commonly known as REACH, and (EC) Regulation No. 1272/2008 on Classification, Labeling and Packaging (CLP), they contain all relevant information on a product’s identity, hazards and safe use.

A SDS should be provided by any supplier (manufacturer, importer, or distributor) no later than the date of first market supply, free of charge, in the official language of the EU member states where the product is to be placed onto the market. It must be fully compliant with the Annex II format of REACH (16 sections and 63 subsections). It should also be updated when any significant change occurs.
