Every year, SGS globally dedicates the month of September as Safety Month. This commitment to safety transcends geographical boundaries and is celebrated with fervor by SGS teams worldwide. In Pakistan, we have not only continued this tradition but also expanded our safety awareness initiatives to reach new horizons.
This year, during the Safety Month in SGS Pakistan, an array of activities and initiatives were undertaken to promote safety awareness and reinforce the importance of safety both at work and at home.
Internal communications
Firstly, a number of communication materials have been prepared to spread awareness around the company.
An opening ceremony was organized with the participation of top managers from SGS Pakistan to launch the Safety Month 2023.
Online and face-to-face sessions with SGS Pakistan staff
Online safe talk sessions were conducted with users in Pakistan, spreading awareness about safety practices.
Two online sessions focusing on transportation safety and fire safety, each accompanied by a quiz, were conducted. The top three winners of each session received fire blankets and fire extinguishers as rewards.
Moreover, interactive face-to-face safety sessions were conducted with staff from various lines of business, fostering a culture of safety among employees.
Drivers received defensive driving sessions, aligning with SGS's Operational Integrity (OI) standards, to enhance road safety.
Activities for family members of SGS Pakistan employees
We also engaged with family members of our Minerals Services team in a face-to-face session. Gas stove lighters and potholders were distributed as giveaways to promote home safety.
A comprehensive home safety checklist was prepared and shared with all staff to increase awareness about potential household hazards. SGS colleagues ensure safe behavior conditions by educating employees at office and children at home on what should be done and what shouldn’t.
SGS initiated a program offering fire safety equipment at subsidized rates, making it more accessible to employees and their households.
Activities in collaboration with partners and clients
In addition, a number of external activities have been conducted to engage partners and clients in the Safety Month campaign.
