SGS successfully held the “US & EU Regulatory Compliance for Furniture Products” seminar on Tuesday, 27 January 2026, at The Wujil Resort & Conventions, Semarang.
The event brought together more than 90 participants representing 68 companies, reflecting strong industry interest in regulatory compliance and product safety for furniture products destined for international markets.
The seminar aimed to provide practical insights and regulatory updates related to furniture compliance requirements in the United States and European Union, with a focus on managing risks, addressing recall cases, and ensuring product conformity with applicable regulations.
The event opened with a welcome session by SGS and was officially opened by the Managing Director of SGS Indonesia, Mike Bruinsma. This was followed by an introduction to SGS’s global expertise in inspection, testing, and certification services. The opening session set the context for the day by outlining SGS’s role in supporting manufacturers, exporters, and brands in navigating complex regulatory landscapes.
A key session on EU Furniture Regulatory Update & Recall Cases was delivered by Toto Waluyadi, Food and Hardline Lab Manager, highlighting current regulatory developments, enforcement trends, and lessons learned from recent product recalls in the European market. Participants gained valuable understanding of compliance challenges and best practices to mitigate regulatory risks.
An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to engage directly with the speakers, raising questions related to specific regulatory concerns and real-world application. This was followed by a presentation on SGS Inspection Services, delivered by Mardiana, Inspection Manager, providing an overview of furniture inspection solutions designed to support compliance verification and quality assurance for furniture products.
The seminar concluded with a quiz session and closing remarks, fostering an engaging and collaborative atmosphere among participants. Through this seminar, SGS also reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the furniture industry through comprehensive furniture testing services.
