SGS in Hong Kong Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Greater Bay Area ESG Federation Limited

August 25, 2026

We are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Greater Bay Area ESG Federation Limited (GBAESG), marking a significant step towards fostering ESG knowledge exchange, professional development and sustainable business growth across Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area.

The partnership brings together our global expertise in sustainability, assurance, training and certification with GBAESG's extensive network of enterprises, financial institutions, social organizations and public bodies. Through this collaboration, both organizations aim to support businesses in navigating the evolving sustainability landscape while enhancing ESG awareness and competencies among professionals.

Building professional development around ESG

Under the MOU, we will work together with GBAESG to develop and deliver a range of professional development initiatives focused on sustainability and ESG-related topics. Planned activities include Continuing Professional Development (CPD)-accredited webinars, knowledge-sharing events and exclusive member benefit programs designed to help organizations strengthen their sustainability capabilities and stay informed of emerging ESG trends, standards and best practices.

As sustainability increasingly becomes a key driver of business resilience and stakeholder value, the collaboration reflects a shared commitment to empowering organizations with practical knowledge, technical expertise and industry insights that support responsible and sustainable growth.

Advancing ESG through collaboration

Miranda Kwan, Director, Business Assurance, SGS Hong Kong, said: "ESG has evolved from a reporting requirement into a strategic business priority. Through our collaboration with GBAESG, we aim to make sustainability knowledge more accessible and actionable for organizations of all sizes. By combining technical expertise, professional education and industry engagement, we hope to help businesses build stronger ESG capabilities, enhance stakeholder confidence, and create long-term value through sustainable practices."

Stanley Ng, Founding Chairman, GBA ESG Federation, said: "The GBA ESG Federation is established to build a cross-sector platform connecting government, business, civil society and academia. ESG implementation by enterprises must not remain on paper or be limited to reports and superficial certifications; green and charitable initiatives need to be put into real practice. The Federation will promote certifications, professional training and industrial matchmaking, deepen collaboration with NGOs and academic institutions, support businesses to adopt sustainable models, and deliver tangible momentum for the green transition and low carbon future of the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area."
