SGS Enables Food and Drink Businesses to Trade in Europe and Beyond

June 05, 2023

With the upcoming changes to the UK border, as outlined in the Target Operating Model published recently, food and drink companies in the UK face additional bureaucracy. SGS is ideally placed to provide confidence, both in today’s market and adapting to the changes ahead.

From October 2023, the UK border controls for sanitary and phytosanitary goods will begin to be reconstructed. Goods, which are categorized according to risk (‘Low’, ‘Medium’ or ‘High’) will have additional processes implemented from October 2023 through to October 2024.

With a global network including customs operations across Europe and beyond, SGS is already working with hundreds of businesses within the sector. We are already helping thousands of companies with customs services, including software, brokerage and transit, to facilitate trade throughout Europe and beyond.

As a neutral partner, not involved in transportation directly, SGS is focused on ensuring ensuring our clients’ goods move seamlessly through border locations.
