Janne Nyman Appointed Chair of IEC CISPR CIS/A

20. Nov 2025

Janne Nyman of SGS Fimko Oy has been appointed Chair of the IEC CISPR/A subcommittee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). His term began on November 1, 2025. This appointment strengthens Finland’s expertise in international standardization of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and provides a significant opportunity to influence the development of global measurement methods.

CISPR/A is part of the CISPR committee under IEC, focusing on measuring equipment, measurement methods, and statistical analysis techniques for radio disturbances caused by electrical and electronic devices. These methods are essential for assessing EMC requirements and ensuring device compliance.

IEC CISPR is an international committee established in 1934 to develop standards for controlling radio interference. Its goal is to ensure that electrical and electronic devices do not cause disruptions to radio communications or other equipment. CISPR develops measurement methods, disturbance limits, and requirements for device emissions.

CISPR standards, such as CISPR 11, 12, 14, 15, 16, 32, and 35, are widely used across various industries and form the basis for many national EMC requirements.
