On September 5, 2017 ECHA launched a second 2017 public consultation on nine potential SVHCs. The Candidate List will expand to 182 if these proposals are accepted.
Domestic Oven Gloves – CE Mark – PPE Updates

Effective April 21, 2018, domestic oven gloves and mitts will be classified as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and regulated under the new PPE regulation 425/2016/EU. This regulation will repeal and replace Directive 89/686/EEC.
Seychelles Bans Certain Plastic Products and Requires Biodegradable Forms to Meet Prescribed Standards

The Seychelles has amended its Environmental Law to prohibit polystyrene boxes, plastic bags and utensils, as well as requiring biodegradable forms of these products to conform to prescribed standards. These new regulations became effective on July 1, 2017.
EU Amends Proposal for BPA in Food Contact Materials and Articles

The EU proposes to amend its draft legislation on BPA in food contact plastics and food contact varnishes or coatings. If approved, the new effective date could be in late 2018.
US CPSC Exempts Seven Plastics From Phthalates Testing in Toys and Childcare Articles

The US CPSC has recently published a final rule to exempt seven types of plastic containing certain additives from third party testing for phthalates in toys and childcare articles. This rule will become effective on September 29, 2017.
