At SGS, we have taken DNA-based testing methods and turned them into a powerful tool for food analysis, food authenticity testing, the identification of ingredients, pathogens, allergens and potential adulteration, even in highly processed food products.

By using All Species ID, food products can be analyzed for almost all types of organisms including meat, fish, seafood, plants and microbes.

The global industry has long sought a way to improve species identification and meat species testing to identify exactly what is in complex food samples. All Species ID takes full advantage of developments in next generation sequencing (NGS) of DNA samples to offer an untargeted test that answers the questions traditional DNA testing (PCR) cannot.

No longer do you need to ask ‘is there beef in this sample?’ Today, one sample and one test will answer the question ‘what species are in this sample?’ It’s a significant improvement in the industry’s ability to identify intentional adulteration and the presence of food allergens.

Our specialist laboratories accept samples from around the world, but if you have the skills and facilities, we have also developed an All Species ID test kit, facilitating in-house testing if preferred.
