ASTM F1313 reinstated for volatile N-nitrosamines in rubber pacifier nipples.
ASTM International issued ASTM F1313-25 ‘Standard Specification for Volatile N-nitrosamine Levels in Rubber Nipples on Pacifiers’ in October 2025. According to the updated standard, ASTM F1313-90 (2011) was withdrawn in January 2020 and reinstated in September 2025.
This specification addresses seven volatile N-nitrosamines found in rubber materials used to manufacture infant pacifier nipples.
Substances in scope and acceptable levels are summarized in Table 1:
