EAC-Ready Certification

Fast-track market access in the East African Community.

The East African Community (EAC) combines the republics of Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania. With a population of 283.7 million (>30% urban dwelling) and a combined gross domestic product of USD 305.3 billion, this is a thriving and rapidly expanding market in which to operate. To guide this expansion and enhance the movement of goods between countries, EAC leaders are adopting a common set of binding East African standards (EAS) to regulate product quality and safety.

Strategy approach to PVoC for the EAC

EAC-Ready product certification helps businesses operating in East Africa to simplify the process for entering EAC markets. This voluntary scheme does not, and will not, replace the pre-shipment verification of conformity (PVoC) programs currently run by countries in the EAC. Instead, this cost-effective solution simplifies the process of satisfying the requirements of each PVoC.

EAC-Ready certification is tailored to your needs and can include one or more of the following conformity assessment activities:

  • Product testing against relevant EAS

  • Factory audit – physical or virtual inspection of facilities around the world

  • Desk audit – interviews and screening of records

  • Documentation reviews – technical evaluation of test reports, etc. against defined standards

Products deemed to conform to relevant market requirements can display the EAC-Ready certification mark.
