Tanzania Launches CoC Update and System Integration for Stronger PVoC Oversight

PCA NewslettersDecember 11, 2025

The Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) is strengthening its pre-shipment verification of conformity (PVoC) program with new measures to boost efficiency and transparency.

Effective November 1, 2025, TBS will introduce an updated certificate of conformity (CoC) template and begin a phased system integration project to modernize information exchange and monitoring.

The new CoC features enhanced elements designed to strengthen document integrity and traceability. Our team has successfully deployed the updated format, ensuring readiness for the transition.

At the same time, TBS is preparing to launch system integration as part of a broader initiative to improve transparency, traceability and operational efficiency within the PVoC program. While current information exchange systems remain functional, the integration represents a practical approach that aligns with technological advancements.

This system will streamline processes, improve data accuracy and enable more effective monitoring of conformity assessments conducted before goods are shipped to Tanzania. By connecting digital platforms and automating key workflows, TBS aims to enhance accountability and provide stakeholders with timely access to information throughout the verification process.

Although integration will be phased, the initiative underscores TBS’s ongoing commitment to ensuring imported products meet national standards while fostering trust, efficiency and compliance in trade operations.
