Our departments

The record to report department is responsible for a wide range of accounting functions, including fixed assets, intercompany, cash management and reconciliation.

On a daily basis, employees analyze accounts, calculate reserves, post documents and analyze balance sheets and income statements. During month-end closing, they focus on the General Ledger. They must ensure that all entries are correct and properly reflect our company’s financial situation.

P2P involves all the processes that occur from the issue of an order to a supplier to the payment of the received invoice.

The duties of P2P accountants mainly concern accounts payable (AP):

  • Validating the invoice data in the system
  • Linking the invoice to the order or posting costs to appropriately selected accounts
  • Processing and posting invoices
  • Conducting employee expense audits
  • Contacting suppliers

P2P employees work with the master data management (MDM) and payment teams.

The B2C accounting team handles the process from placement of a customer order to payment for a product or service.

Employees in this team make sure that payments from our customers reach SGS and link these payments to invoices issued by SGS. They analyze bank statements on a daily basis.

Accounts receivable (AR) specialists are responsible for contacting business customers by email and telephone to ask them for details of payments received and get in touch with them about unpaid invoices.

The purchasing department supports the organization's purchasing processes, ensures efficient order processing, and manages supplier and material data. It consists of two teams:

  • Transactional support team – deals with the administration of internal catalogs, managing the connection of suppliers' online stores to our system, entering tickets regarding numbers for materials and preparing reports and analyses
  • Transactional purchasing specialists – this team is responsible for processing non-catalog orders, handling supplier requests, managing open orders, and updating internal catalogs

Together, the two teams ensure the efficiency and transparency of the company's purchasing processes.

The transfer pricing team prepares and monitors transfer pricing documentation within SGS Group. It is part of SGS's global tax function.

In addition to performing their day-to-day duties, which focus on a wide range of transfer pricing activity, team members are constantly growing their knowledge of international taxation.

Our Business Assurance department provides back office functions for other SGS divisions, mainly in Western Europe, but also in the US and Canada, and more broadly within specialized teams.

Employees contact our foreign sites, verify the accuracy of post-audit documentation, issue certificates and invoices, and work with databases, both SGS-owned and external. They play important roles in many stages of the certification process.

Our Natural Resources department is the back office for our global Oil, Gas & Chemical Commodities business line.

The contracts team manages the administration of global, regional and local contracts. It also handles inquiries from internal customers and prepares contracts and reports.

The liquefied natural gas (LNG) team monitors LNG shipping inspections for the timeliness of documents sent to customers as well as compliance with procedures. It also compiles statistics and analyses for the global LNG team.

In this department, employees deal with such services as:

  • TransitNet - The transit procedure allows you to suspend the obligation to pay customs and tax duties when transporting goods between different countries. It involves the submission of a financial guarantee to cover these duties if the transit is not properly closed. The TransitNet service allows carriers to affordably open transit declarations in multiple countries in one place, using a comprehensive guarantee provided by SGS. Within TransitNet, there are several teams in the Back Office:
    • Operations - providing day-to-day support for customers and their transits, available 24/7.
    • Declarants - creates customs declarations on behalf of clients, also operating 24/7.
    • Risk Management - analyzes and monitors those transactions that, due to the value of the guarantee or the nature of the goods, have a higher risk.
    • Claims - deals with transits that have not been closed correctly, clarifying doubts and handling customs claims.
  • Brokerage - creates import and export declarations in selected countries.

ON TRACK Project

In addition, the On Track project is being implemented within this department. A special SGS OnTrack platform has been set up for our clients, where clients can register their applications, based on which they can claim reimbursement for the amounts invested in tobacco tracking equipment. The team is engaged in carrying out a multi-stage verification of requests for reimbursement of costs incurred in connection with the implementation of the provisions of the latest European Union directive on tobacco products. The purpose of this directive is to combat the illegal trade in tobacco products.

Due to the wide range of services provided by our center in Katowice, we are looking for candidates with diverse competencies and professional profiles. The common denominator uniting our employees is knowledge of foreign languages. We provide services in English, German, French, Italian, Dutch and Spanish.
