SGS Pakistan has taken a proactive stance in environmental and corporate social responsibility by actively engaging with the Punjab Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to address the pressing issue of smog in Lahore.
This commitment was demonstrated during a key meeting on 15 September, where SGS Pakistan, along with other all approved labs, collaborated to combat the seasonal rise in smog levels.
The meeting, spearheaded by the EPA Director General, focused on the imminent smog season, particularly peaking between October to December due to factors like crop residue burning and industrial emissions. Recognizing the urgency, EPA Punjab mandated all approved labs, including SGS Pakistan, to connect to a central control room for real-time monitoring of ambient air and emission data to meet regulatory requirements.
EPA Punjab directed labs to provide essential monitoring equipment, specifically a 50-inch Android LED and a laptop for the central control room. This strategic move aimed to enhance the monitoring and recording of air quality data during the critical smog season.
