China issued an updated product standard – FZ/T 74002-2025 – for sports brassieres, which will take effect on May 1, 2027.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China has released an updated industry standard, FZ/T 74002-2025, for sports brassieres. Published as part of Announcement No. 7 on approved industry standards for 2025, it supersedes the previous version, FZ/T 74002-2014, and will become effective on May 1, 2027.
This document applies to sports brassieres designed to protect the breasts during physical activities such as running, jumping and walking.
Sizing shall follow the provisions of FZ/T 73012 and may also indicate the applicable under-bust range and cup size range. Examples include A-C75-80, ABC75.
These include requirements for structural design and construction, internal quality and appearance.
The structural design and construction requirements are as follows:
The requirements of internal quality shall comply with the rules of table 1 of FZ/T 74002-2025. The test items include formaldehyde content, pH value, odor, decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amines, colorfastness to water, colorfastness to washing with soap or soap and soda, colorfastness to rubbing, colorfastness to perspiration, colorfastness to artificial light, colorfastness to light of textiles wetted with artificial perspiration, colorfastness to transfer in joints, fiber content, air permeability, under border pressure, residual metal needle and appearance quality after washing. Sports brassieres for children shall also comply with the rules in GB 31701.
Sports brassiere should indicate their shock absorption performance by using terms such as shock absorption rate, support level and protection level. If labeled, the shock absorption rate should be tested according to Appendix A of FZ/T 74002-2025.
Appearance requirements should be referenced in clause 5.4 of FZ/T 74002-2025.
