SGS has been approved by the Directorate General for Specifications and Metrology (DGSM), Oman, to issue the Omani Quality Mark (OQM). This approval reinforces our position as a trusted conformity assessment body, enabling manufacturers and exporters to meet Omani technical regulations while ensuring safe and efficient access to the Omani market.
The approval has been granted in accordance with Article 2 of the Quality Mark Regulation, issued under Ministerial Decision No. 718/2024, and will be effective from March 1, 2026. This regulatory framework establishes mandatory conformity requirements for selected construction and building materials to ensure product quality, safety and performance in the Sultanate of Oman.
Under this approval, we are authorized to conduct conformity assessment activities and issue the Omani Quality Mark for products regulated under the scheme. The current scope of regulated products includes:
- Ordinary Portland cement
- Sulphate-resistant cement
- Portland limestone cement
- Ceramic tiles
These products are critical to Oman’s construction and infrastructure sectors, where compliance with national standards is essential to ensure durability, environmental performance and consumer safety.
Conformity assessment activities conducted in line with DGSM requirements and under the Omani Quality Mark scheme include product testing, factory inspections, evaluation of production control systems, technical documentation review and ongoing surveillance. By combining local regulatory knowledge with our global technical expertise, manufacturers benefit from a consistent, transparent and efficient certification process.
This approval enables manufacturers, importers and exporters to engage with a single, globally recognized conformity assessment partner, reducing time to market and mitigating regulatory risks. Our extensive laboratory network and regional technical teams ensure that assessments are conducted with accuracy, impartiality and speed.
The authorization by DGSM further reinforces our commitment to supporting regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders in strengthening product quality and facilitating compliant trade across the region.
