Join our live webinar to gain insights from our SGS expert on mineral oil contamination in foods, the latest regulatory changes and much more.
Overview
Mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOH) are complex compound mixtures that are obtained from crude oils, among other things, and can lead to contamination in the production of food due to their wide range of applications. Mineral oil hydrocarbons are divided into two groups: mineral oil saturated hydrocarbons (MOSH) and mineral oil aromatic hydrocarbons (MOAH).
Mineral oil as a food contaminant has attracted attention due to its potential adverse effects on human health. In particular, MOAH is cited as a potential major concern due to its toxicity and genotoxicity. Contamination can occur during various stages of the value chain, from production to packaging and storage.
Never has it been so important to get accurate quantification of MOH. The European Commission is expected to adopt regulatory limits for MOAH in food in early 2025.
During this webinar our expert will review the new legislation, the analytical methods for official quantification and the new quantification method to confirm results.
