SGS Provides Independent Carbon Neutrality Assurance for Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit Hong Kong 2025

March 31, 2026

We are pleased to announce that we have completed independent third party carbon neutrality assurance for Schneider Electric’s Innovation Summit Hong Kong 2025, verifying both the event’s quantified carbon footprint and its achievement of carbon neutrality, in accordance with ISO 14067 “Greenhouse Gases – Carbon Footprint of Products – Requirements and Guidelines for Quantification” and ISO 14068-1 “Climate Change Management – Transition to Net Zero – Part 1: Carbon Neutrality”.

Verifying carbon neutrality for Innovation Summit Hong Kong 2025

This assurance places the summit among the first events in Hong Kong to attain independently verified carbon-neutral status, and underscores Schneider Electric’s commitment to transparent climate action and responsible event management, while also demonstrating the industry’s growing adoption of science-based sustainability approaches.

The journey included comprehensive lifecycle carbon accounting across planning, on site activities and post-event processes; targeted measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across venue operations, catering, materials, transportation and waste; the use of high-integrity Verified Carbon Standard credits through the Bokhol Solar Project in Senegal to address all unabated and residual emissions; and the completion of independent third-party verification supported by Schneider Electric’s commitment to continuous improvement.

Independent verification against international standards

Our verification was conducted against two internationally recognized climate standards.

Under ISO 14067, we verified the greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions associated with the event, confirming that the carbon footprint quantification followed international methodologies.

We also verified that the event achieved carbon neutrality in accordance with ISO 14068-1, which defines requirements for the transition to net zero, ensuring carbon emissions were measured, reduced and offset in line with robust international criteria.

Strengthening trust through independent assurance services

Shirley Wong, Director of Marketing Communications and Business Development at Schneider Electric Hong Kong, stated: “This recognition reflects our ongoing commitment to managing environmental impacts through internationally recognized standards, transparent methodologies and independent third-party assurance.”

“Through a data-driven approach to measurement, reduction and mitigation, we will continue to strengthen our commitment to low-impact events, while bringing our customers and partners along through shared practices and insights.”

Miranda Kwan, Director of Business Assurance at SGS in Hong Kong, said: “Across Hong Kong and the wider region, organizations are placing greater emphasis on data-driven sustainability reporting and transparent environmental claims.”

“Independent third-party assurance provides the credibility stakeholders expect, helping distinguish genuine climate action from verified claims. By applying internationally recognized standards, we support organizations in demonstrating measurable progress and strengthening trust in their sustainability commitments.”

Supporting the transition to sustainable events

As ESG disclosure expectations increase, more organizations are placing greater emphasis on measuring and verifying the environmental impact of their events. Independent assurance services help strengthen transparency and accountability while supporting credible climate strategies.

Through our IMPACT NOW for sustainability initiative, we continue to support organizations with science-based assurance services that build confidence in sustainability performance and reporting.
