The aim of this guide is to explain the notion of regulatory compliance under the US Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) by examining the FSMA Third Party Certification Program (TPP) and FSMA Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) certification schemes. We explore how the new expedited Voluntary Qualified Importer Program (VQIP) relates to TPP, and review the factors importers and foreign suppliers must consider in order to choose the appropriate scheme.
