SGS Gulf Ltd. Notified Body 0003 has been officially approved by the Directorate General for Specifications and Metrology (DGSM), Oman, to issue the Omani Quality Mark (OQM).
This milestone reinforces SGS’s position as a trusted conformity assessment body, enabling manufacturers and exporters to achieve compliance with Omani technical regulations while ensuring efficient access to the Sultanate’s market.
The approval has been granted in accordance with Article 2 of the Quality Mark Regulation under Ministerial Decision No. 718/2024 and will take effect from March 1, 2026. The regulation establishes mandatory conformity requirements for selected construction and building materials, ensuring product quality, safety and performance across Oman’s infrastructure landscape.
Under this authorization, SGS UAE Office is empowered to conduct conformity assessment activities and issue the Omani Quality Mark for regulated products, currently including:
- Ordinary portland cement
- Sulphate resistant cement
- Portland limestone cement
- Ceramic tiles
These materials are essential to Oman’s construction and infrastructure sectors, where strict adherence to national standards safeguards durability, environmental performance and consumer protection.
We delivers comprehensive conformity assessment services under the OQM scheme, including product testing, factory inspections, production control system evaluation, technical documentation review and ongoing surveillance in line with DGSM requirements. By combining in-depth regulatory knowledge with global technical expertise, we ensure a transparent, consistent and efficient certification process.
This approval allows manufacturers, importers and exporters to work with a single, globally recognized conformity assessment partner, helping to reduce time to market and minimize regulatory risk. Our extensive laboratory network and regional technical teams ensure assessments are conducted with precision, impartiality and speed.
Beyond the Omani Quality Mark, SGS is also approved for mandatory certification of conformity across multiple product categories in Oman, including electrical and electronic appliances, electric scooters and energy efficiency labeling.
With more than 100 years of experience in testing, inspection and certification, SGS supports regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders worldwide. Its product conformity assessment programs span the Gulf region — including Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait — as well as key African markets such as Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Gabon, Zanzibar, South Sudan, Burundi, Egypt and Algeria.
We remain committed to facilitating compliant trade, strengthening product quality and enabling seamless market access to Oman and beyond.
