Mechanical testing allows us to determine a material’s properties, including yield strength, ultimate tensile strength, ductility, notch (impact) toughness, fracture toughness and hardness
- Butt weld testing – we can perform a range of testing on a butt weld joint to determine the quality, strength, hardness and ductility of the weld. Some of the tests we perform are NDT, tensile tests, bend tests, impact tests, macro examination and hardness tests. These tests, as well as some others, can be used to determine the acceptability of a weld procedure or a welder qualification test
- Fillet weld testing – we can determine the quality of a fillet weld joint by performing NDT and mechanical testing. Macro examinations and fillet fracture tests give a good view of profile, fusion and penetration, and reveal whether there are any imperfections, such as porosity or inclusions, in the weld. These tests are used to test the welder’s ability to weld a fillet weld
