In celebration of Earth Day, we are delighted to announce the appointment of SGS Australia’s first Sustainability Officer, Ciara O’Dwyer.
Only weeks ago, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change issued the warning that ‘It's now or never’ to act on climate change. The report did however offer a glimmer of hope and laid out a path to halving global emissions by 2030. It’s a stark reminder of the necessity for climate action and the importance of this position.
The Sustainability Officer role has been created to ensure we’re working towards our Sustainability Ambitions 2030. This role will identify areas that can be improved to be more sustainable and contribute towards achieving our 2030 Ambitions, and make a positive, long-lasting impact.
Centred around the three key pillars our ambitions focus on:
- Better Society
- Better Governance
- Better Planet
As we operate across several industries and sectors, we have a real opportunity to ensure that our processes and actions are as sustainable as possible. We’re in a unique position to reduce not only our own impact, but the impact that our clients and suppliers have on the environmentCiara O’Dwyer, Sustainability Officer.
