Performance on Managing Energy and Climate Change
- Our energy consumption (non-transport fuels, vehicle fuels and electricity) in 2016 increased by 4.6% against 2015. This was especially impacted by a 9% increase in electricity used in our buildings. The growth in revenue for the year was 6% on a constant currency basis
- Our Green Book indicates electricity spend has risen by 12.7%, due to higher consumption of electricity and higher costs in some affiliates
- Thanks to our carbon neutrality policy (see Carbon Neutrality) our absolute CO2 emissions have decreased by 8.1% against 2015 to 186,851 metric tons, with greenhouse gas intensity as a proportion of revenue reducing 13.3% (to 31.2 metric tons per CHF million) and greenhouse gas intensity as a proportion of headcount decreasing by 11.7% to 2.08 metric tons per full-time equivalent (FTE). This is against a backdrop of our FTE growing by 3.9%, and our revenue growing 6% in the same period.
- During 2016, we placed more than 158,000 conference and video calls that helped us save more than 7,900 flights.
