Why is this Issue Material to SGS?

Global competition for talent is growing, with companies, industry sectors and markets looking to attract the same pool of highly skilled people. A feature of this is the international mobility of highly skilled workers, particularly in science and technology-based industries. The migration of talent now plays an important role in shaping skilled labor forces throughout developing countries, diffusing knowledge across borders and boosting global innovation.

Our ability to acquire, manage, develop and retain talent is essential to SGS, as we need highly skilled employees to deliver outstanding services to our customers. Our global spread, variety of business lines and approach to sourcing talent locally wherever possible means we need to attract different people from different places, but all exceptional in their fields. As our Green Book shows, staff turnover is a challenge and remains a priority to be managed. While this is typical of the many industry sectors and geographies we work in, we have adopted a targeted approach to improve retention.
