Although our four-year data reveals a downward trend, the TRIR (Total Recordable Incident Rate) increased by 1.7% in 2013 to 1.19. We are deeply saddened that this included 10* employee and contractor fatalities, which mainly related to road accidents. In response, we immediately launched a global Road and Travel Safety campaign and reviewed our site risk assessment processes. Although the number of health and safety training hours increased during 2013, the number of recordable incidents slightly increased, as did our LTIFR (Lost Time Incident Frequency Rate) to 0.63.
