SGS Tanzania Supports ISO 9001:2015 Certification of Leading Non-Profit Research Organization’
Ifakara Health Institute (IHI) is a leading research organization in Africa involved with the development, testing and validation of health innovations. Established in Tanzania more than 50 years ago, the non-profit organization relies on competitive research grants for more than 80% of its income. IHI recognizes the importance of demonstrating the quality of its management systems through certification to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.
After it had fulfilled the groundwork for certification and completed its ISO 9001:2015 quality management system documentation, IHI appealed for sponsorship to help it progress to the next level. SGS Tanzania worked with IHI in the early stages of the ISO 9001 certification process and has become a willing sponsor of the organization.
Completion of the work with IHI will involve a gap analysis audit, internal auditor training, a Stage 1 certification audit, a Stage 2 certification audit that includes reporting, and finally, the certification decision. We recognize that this is a significant undertaking for any company, and we are confident that IHI is committed to completing the process.
Acknowledging the sponsorship, Dr Honorati Masanja, Chief Executive Director, IHI, commented, “On behalf of IHI’s board and management, I am pleased to inform you that we have received, with great appreciation, the news from Her Excellency Ambassador Florence Mattli of SGS Tanzania's acceptance of our sponsorship request. We sincerely appreciate this significant and strategic support of IHI.”
