In September 2017, 19 high potential employees in our Caspian sub-region participated in a two day masterclass on business development and sales.

The training was targeted at middle managers, client relationship managers, sales managers and supervisors with leadership potential. With a theory to practice ratio of 10 to 90, the training was highly interactive and ensured that participants had the opportunity to practically apply the knowledge they gained from group discussions, group work, presentations, case analyses, demonstrations and video analyses. The training used real examples based on our SGS business lines and region, and included modules on negotiation, working with objections and obstacles, and developing close relationships with clients. All participants received a certificate from the external trainer on the successful completion of the masterclass. 

During the month following the training, participants were interviewed, to provide an understanding of how they were applying the knowledge and skills they gained from the training. Some of the skills covered by the masterclass were not new to all participants – some were already in business development and customer relationship roles. For those participants, the techniques and practical demonstrations provided a helpful opportunity to strengthen these skills and expand their knowledge of how to adapt them to different scenarios. All participants felt that the training was worthwhile and would help them to develop business opportunities and enhance their interactions with clients.

In my opinion the training was very interesting, substantial and professionally prepared. The techniques used in the training were very original, not boring, but active. The format is quite acceptable. In general, the sales scheme is depicted competently and interestingly. The training left me with a positive impression and I found it pleasant.
