SGS South Africa Acts to Save Lives Through Operation Hydrate
In early 2016, South Africa was in the grip of its worst drought in 23 years, with areas in the Free State and Eastern Cape experiencing severe water shortages.
In response to this plight, Operation Hydrate was launched in January to call on members of the public and businesses to donate five sealed liter bottles of drinking water. SGS, in partnership with its supplier, AD&IMAGE, donated water to the Senekal community and surrounding areas. This effort contributed to Operation Hydrate’s achievement of distributing more than seven million liters of water to homes and schools in urgent need of clean drinking water.
