2015 was a landmark year for SGS Government and Institutions Services (GIS); it celebrated 50 years of providing services to the public sector.

To commemorate this anniversary, SGS GIS donated an eight cubic meter water tower and solar panels to Présence Madagascar, an association that helps children in Madagascar who have been abandoned or are living in poverty with their families. Through its three centers, Présence Madagascar gives more than one hundred children without access to drinking water or electricity a chance for a better future.

The water tower and solar panels are located at Présence Madagascar's Fanantenana (meaning “hope”) Center, where orphans are provided with education and training. Thanks to SGS’s donation, the center now has water and electricity for a cutting and sewing workshop.

On May 10, 2016, around 40 SGS employees, customs officials and other private sector organizations attended the inauguration of the water tower and solar panels. The inauguration attracted a number of local dignitaries, including the Secretary General of the Atsinanana region, the Secretary General of the Tamatave prefecture, the First Deputy Mayor of Tamatave and the Chairman of the Town Council.
