Roundup of SGS Affiliate Environmental Activity
- SGS India implemented five major energy and water saving projects. These included installing solar panels at its automotive testing laboratory in Haryana, Manesar and energy efficient lighting systems at its Gurgaon, Manesar and Navi Mumbai facilities; fitting a variable frequency drive for an air compressor; using recycled water for washing processes at its laboratory in Chennai Ambattur; and installing a water treatment plant in its Tirapur facility.
- SGS Netherlands received approval to install solar panels at its plant in Visslingen. They will generate the equivalent of 9% of the plant’s annual energy consumption.
- SGS France hosted a breakfast during European Sustainable Development Week to discuss various initiatives linked to energy efficiency and waste management. During the breakfast, the energy consumption figures for each floor of the office were revealed, with the most energy-efficient floor receiving a prize.
- SGS UK supported the national Cycle to Work event on September 14, 2016. This event aims to promote cycle commuting and encourages people to take control of their health. Employees at SGS UK were encouraged to participate in the SGS Cycle to Work scheme, which offered as an incentive a tax efficient means of purchasing a bike through the payroll.
