Empowering Black Entrepreneurs in South Africa
SGS Southern Africa’s supplier development program aims to contribute to supplier development, job creation, enterprise development, education and human resource development.
In support of this, SGS identified a number of empowered integrated black-owned companies as suppliers, and provides training to them that is accredited by the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA).
One participant on the course, Vuyo Tihowe, who set up his company, Baitsanape Lab Supplies (BLS) in 2013, commented, “I am grateful for the opportunities and the work that my company has received through SGS. I am enjoying the partnership we have created.”
SGS recently donated a truck to help BLS to make deliveries to its clients while reducing overhead costs. SGS intends to grow its partnerships with entrepreneurs like Vuyo and empower more integrated black-owned enterprises to compete in the marketplace.
