  • SGS Finland hosted an online safety quiz to identify hazards and organized an evacuation drill at its sites
  • SGS Nigeria used a football match to bring together employees, family members, contractors and community to create awareness on safety matters
  • SGS Philippines hosted a safety and health quiz involving representatives from each line of business and function. Business managers were each given a topic based on one of the Rules for Life and made presentations on how the Rule was relevant to their topic. It also hosted a PPE contest whereby photographs of employees at work were judged on highlighted risk factors, completeness of protection and relevance of PPE use. During the month, skills training and practical demonstrations were provided on respirator use and spill response
  • SGS Oman’s Safety Month activities were led by MD, Hamed Aikharusi, who organized games and activities
  • SGS OGC Upstream (Eastern Europe and Middle East) organized a blood donation campaign in the Middle East, Kuwait, Oman and Dubai as an important contribution to saving lives in the case of disasters or accidents
  • SGS USA hosted a safety day expo involving several lines of business (OGC, Industrial, Minerals and Agriculture) and brought topics to life through videos and games. Emergency Response teams from the local community were also involved
  • SGS Brazil used the month to reinforce the OI mission and objectives, Rules for Life and HSE Policy
  • SGS Malaysia brought together its OI and IT teams to create pop-ups of Safety Month posters on computer screens, which appeared on employee’s PCs and laptops one week prior to Safety Month, with the messages being changed each week
  • SGS Hungary created a 30-day plan and invited all SGS employees to join programs under the banner, ‘SAFE-t-Ember’, a playful take on September, combining the English word, ‘safe’, with the Hungarian word, ‘ember’, which means ‘man’ or ‘human’
  • SGS UK recorded a 75% participation rate for employees and subsequently saw hazard reporting levels increase by 72%
