SGS provides a full range of petrophysical services. The technical support we offer varies from short single well evaluations to fully integrated multi-well petrophysical studies, data room evaluations and equity re/determinations.
Petrophysical services are either provided to customers as standalone studies or as petrophysical analyses designed to support multi-disciplinary studies.
SGS petrophysicists are frequently involved in exploration as well as development projects and have experience in a wide range of geological settings, including deepwater turbidites, tight formations, shale gas, and lithologies like clastics, (fractured) carbonates and chalks. Whatever the situation, our experts construct reservoir models to gain a better understanding of the subsurface, leading to informed well placement, reserve estimation and production planning. Models are based on quantative log evaluation, field measurements, seismic surveys and production history.
SGS petrophysical services use quantative log evalution with core integration to assist in successful hydrocarbon exploration. All essential available geological information such as sedimentology, facies, burial history, diagenesis and mineralogy are integrated into the workflow, allowing our SGS petrophysicists to provide you with the most accurate evaluations possible. For every project a database is set up or reviewed to assure the data quality of wire-line, mud-logs, LWD logs and other petrophysical information. The following topics are typically addressed:
Quantitative log evaluation – We run deterministic log analysis using total and effective porosity concepts. As part of this we apply multimineral probabilistic analysis, specifically for complex carbonate reservoirs. The log evaluation results are amalgamated with core data, borehole image data and production data.
Permeability modeling – We use various techniques to build working permeability-predicting models. The core data is integrated with facies information from geology studies combined with wireline evaluation results and available test information.
Saturation Height Modeling – Saturation vs height modeling is based on capillary curve data or simply on log results and forms part of our proposed workflow. We normally provide this alongside permeability modeling.
Pressure data analysis – We integrate RFT/MDT/RCI pressure, data validated DST test interpretations and all geological information to further delineate possible permeability ranges.
Error Analysis – A Monte Carlo Error Analysis on the initial petrophysical results highlights which petrophysical parameter or curve should be concentrated on to optimize results and to reduce uncertainties.
Borehole Image Interpretation – We provide the processing and interpretation of borehole image data and dipmeter data, fully integrating the results with other petrophysical and geological studies.
Operational support Petrophysics – Through operational support and quick look evaluations we support our customers. We provide technical advice for data acquisition strategies and technical evaluation of wireline contract tenders.
