We are pleased to announce that SGS Hong Kong Limited (SGS) has become an Electrical and Mechanical Services Department-accredited third-party certification body to audit electric vehicle (EV) high-voltage Type H workshops.
The Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) announced the extension of EV repair service categories to the Voluntary Registration Scheme for Vehicle Mechanics (VRSVM) and Voluntary Registration Scheme for Vehicle Maintenance Workshops (VRSVMW) last year. The aim is to enhance the local vehicle repair industry’s service level and professional image.
Each registered workshop will receive a certificate and logo indicating its registered category and registration number. Registration is valid for three years and registered workshops must display the logo prominently within the workshop for easy identification by the public.
The public can access information about registered workshops on the EMSD website. This system helps identify service quality that meets relevant standards. Additionally, these registered workshops and technicians will transition to a mandatory registration system, making it more convenient.
Those interested in becoming an EV high-voltage-registered workshop must provide written certification or an audit evaluation by a VMTAC-recognized, third-party certification body to be considered a qualified applicant for Type H workshop registration.
