SGS Employees Volunteer in Spain’s Fundación Adecco Inclusion Project
As the UN International Volunteer Day approaches, SGS volunteers collaborate with Fundación Adecco to promote inclusion in Spain.
The United Nations International Volunteer Day takes place on December 5. This year, the theme is “Volunteer for an Inclusive Future”, highlighting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 10 and the pursuit of equality – particularly inclusion – through volunteerism.
Creating value through volunteering
SGS is committed to creating value for the communities in which we operate, and one of the ways our employees create value is through volunteering. One of the most recent examples of volunteering in SGS around the world took place in Madrid, Spain.
22 SGS employees participated in a volunteering activity to promote inclusion in an Inclusive Orchard Workshop. In collaboration with Fundación Adecco, the activity took place in the Círvite Center. Volunteers collaborated with disabled people to plant vegetables, flowers and plants for an urban orchard, remove invasive plants from the center’s garden and build nest boxes for birds.
Jobs for all
The initiative is part of Fundación Adecco’s program Empleo Para Todos –Jobs For All – which promotes access to the job market for people with disabilities.
The role of volunteers is essential in supporting the Fundación Adecco’s team of professionals who strive to reach more people and have a greater impact on the lives of the most vulnerable people with disabilities.
