SGS in Guangzhou, China has been approved as an ENEC Testing Laboratory (TL) for the testing and certification of luminaires and control equipment.

ENEC Scheme membership, awarded by the European Testing Inspection and Certification System (ETICS), sees the Guangzhou laboratory join a global network of four TLs that operate under the supervision of the certification body SGS Fimko Ltd (Finland).

ENEC, a European Mark for electrical products, is complementary to the mandatory CE marking on electrical products placed on the European market. It demonstrates compliance with European standards (ENs), mainly related to safety and, being granted by an independent third party, signifies that products are safe and in accordance with European directives.

Tom Törn, Certification Director, SGS Fimko Ltd. said: "ENEC means safety in Europe, and as a signatory of the ENEC Mark Scheme we actively support its commitment to the highest safety levels.

"SGS is recognized as the global benchmark for quality and integrity and this expansion of our capability will ensure we are even better placed to help those within the industry trade with the confidence and assurance needed in the global marketplace."

The scope of the approved testing laboratory at Guangzhou (SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co. Ltd. Guangzhou Branch) consists of:

  • Safety requirements of luminaires (EN 60598-1, EN 60598-2-1, EN 60598-2-2, EN 60598-2-3, EN 60598-2-4, EN 60598-2-5, EN 60598-2-22, EN 60598-2-24, EN 61347-1, EN 61347-2-11, EN 61347-2-13, EN 62031, EN 62384, EN 62776)
