Product Recall Trends in Softlines: Q2 2019
Softline product recalls in the USA increased by 80% in Q2 2019, with 10 recalls, in comparison to Q1. During the same period, recalls of softlines products in the EU decreased by 7% with 40 recalls.
In the USA, the top recall category was clothing, textiles and fashion items with the main risk being burns within children’s products not meeting federal flammability standards.
The top recall category in the EU was also clothing, textile and fashion items, with the main risks being injuries, predominantly within children’s clothing. A number of jewelry products were also recalled, for chemical risks.
