SGS Approved by the Saudi FDA to Test and Certify Food Products Exported to GCC Countries
SGS is pleased to announce that the company's laboratories in India have been approved by the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) to test and certify food products exported to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Under new SFDA guidelines that come into effect on November 1, 2018, all foodstuffs imported into Saudi Arabia from India must be tested for pesticide residues and contaminants by an approved laboratory in India. All consignments must be supported by the relevant test results from an approved laboratory confirming that the product is tested and certified to be compliant with the maximum residue limits and other contaminant limits, as per the technical and approved standard specification.
SGS laboratories in India offer a high level of expertise in the testing of agrochemical residues (pesticides and veterinary drugs) as well as for contaminants in food and agricultural commodities. The company's state-of-the-art testing laboratories are ISO 17025:2005 accredited and recognized by the SFDA. In addition to this, SGS's laboratories are also approved by the:
- Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)
- Export Inspection Council of India (EIC)
- Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS)
- Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI)
- Central Insecticides Board and Registration Committee (CIB&RC)
- Directorate of Marketing and Inspection (DMI)
Through our recognized methodologies and sophisticated analytical equipment, SGS is able to achieve trace level detection of around 800 agrochemicals at or below their regulatory limits. We test food products in a wide range of matrices for multiple parameters. With a fast and dedicated response team, we are able to support all testing requirements of our customers.
