Kuoni Congress Receives ISO 20121 Certification
SGS has awarded Kuoni Congress ISO 20121 certification for the sustainability event management system established in its offices in Barcelona, Copenhagen and Geneva.
This makes Kuoni Congress the first event planner in Spain to become certified to ISO 20121. In 2019, Kuoni Congress Vienna will enter the scope of certification, which will eventually be extended to cover Kuoni Destination Management.
Kuoni Congress began its sustainability journey in early 2016. The company took its first step by determining stakeholder expectations in regard to sustainability. It then made sure that these objectives were relevant to the business and would contribute to the reduction of its impact on the environment.

ISO 20121 Sustainable Event Management certification has given Kuoni Congress a better understanding of how it can influence its supply chain and clients to reduce environmental impact and encourage positive change. The company has begun a process of monitoring and measuring actions aimed at achieving continual sustainable development. Procedures for analyzing performance, correcting mistakes and fostering continual improvement are gradually being ingrained into the business.
Kuoni Congress chose SGS as the certifying body for their management system thanks to their solid and prestigious reputation for delivering results with recognized brands. During the ISO 20121 live audit at the ESTRO congress in Barcelona in April 2018, Kuoni Congress demonstrated sustainability best practice and positive collaboration with the supply chain on issues such as waste management, accessibility, carbon emissions and sustainable sourcing. It will use its sustainability event management system to manage additional conferences this year, including ESA in Copenhagen, WCGIC in Barcelona and ICD, ECSP and EAIE in Geneva.
