ISO 17025 Accreditation and IOOC Agreement for Sensory Analysis of Virgin Olive Oil in Sfax, Tunisia
SGS is pleased to announce that its olive oil laboratory in Sfax, Tunisia, has achieved ISO 17025 accreditation and International Olive Oil Council (IOOC) agreement for sensory analysis of virgin olive oil in addition to its existing chemical analysis accreditation and IOOC recognition.
The sensory analysis laboratory for virgin olive oil offers a Panel Test (PT) service – formed by a group of 8 to 12 qualified tasters. Members of the test panel are trained to be able to express their perceptions of the organoleptic properties of virgin olive oil, negative and positive in a consistent and scientific way. Their accuracy and precision are continuously monitored.
The data derived from the PT is collected and processed statistically to provide a final classification of virgin olive oil. The test panel meets the standards set by the International Olive Oil Council (IOOC) and the ISO 17025.
This builds on the lab’s existing capabilities and pre-existing accreditation for analysis with chemical tests, which was achieved in 2008. Approved by the International Olive Oil Council, and Tunisia’s Ministry of Commerce, the team at Sfax enable exporters to save time and offer them greater international approval of the quality certificates they receive.
